'King Cosmos’ launches One Million Seed Giveaway
Jonathan Sheppard, known as ‘King Cosmos’, has partnered with Thompson & Morgan to give away one million cosmos seeds at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, encouraging more wildlife-friendly gardening.
The specially developed ‘King Cosmos Mix’ has been selected to perform well in peat-free compost, supporting sustainable gardening while benefiting pollinators. Sheppard, a Chelsea Gold Medal winner and National Collection holder of hollyhocks, says cosmos are ideal for gardeners of all levels, offering long flowering from June to the first frosts, strong pollinator appeal, and suitability for pots or borders.
The initiative follows his previous collaboration with Thompson & Morgan, including the launch of Cosmos ‘Fondant Fancy’ at last year’s Chelsea Flower Show. By distributing one million seeds, Sheppard hopes to inspire more people to grow from seed and create colourful, pollinator-friendly gardens using peat-free methods.
