British Garden Centres is thrilled to announce the exclusive launch of ‘Bountiful Pink’, a striking new begonia developed through the Young People in Horticulture Association’s (YPHA) Launch Success Challenge. Unveiled at BBC Gardeners’ World Live, the plant will also be available in around 50 selected BGC stores across the UK.
‘Bountiful Pink’ is the result of months of collaboration, training and mentorship for ten rising stars in horticulture, who were split into two teams and challenged to bring a brand-new plant to market. The winning team — Laura McArthur, Leif Mann, Beth Anderson, Jacob Hatch and Molly Parkin — created a begonia with compact growth, minimal maintenance needs and prolific, vivid pink blooms suitable for pots, beds, or indoors.
Developed in partnership with Beekenkamp Plants and supported by visits to Westland Horticulture, Floramedia, and various industry seminars, the programme offered participants hands-on experience in product development, branding, marketing and supply chain logistics.
Amy Stubbs, Product & Development Manager at BGC, said: “This project showcases the creativity, dedication and potential of young professionals in our industry. We’re proud to be part of helping them bring a brilliant new product to life.”
This launch marks a milestone in BGC and YPHA’s shared commitment to championing the next generation of horticultural talent.
