Gardman has announced the launch of its Wild Bird Banquet as part of its ongoing partnership with the British Trust for Ornithology (the BTO) which is aimed at driving footfall to garden centres whilst caring for wild birds.
As part of the campaign, which will take place throughout October, people are encouraged to “host a banquet”. They do this by simply putting an extra bird feeder out in the garden then reporting the difference in the quantity of birds appearing via the WildBirdBanquet.co.uk website.
The campaign is exclusive to garden centres to help reiterate them as part of Gardman’s campaign to make centres the go-to destination for wild bird care. To support this there will be a range of in-store activities and promotions available with displays and extensive merchandising options too. Each participating centre will be supplied with a toolkit of assets such as graphics and posts to use on social media, as well as email templates and event kits.
Rachael Dickinson, senior marketing manager at Westland which owns Gardman, commented: “With this being the largest survey of gardens and wild birds to be conducted, it is a substantial project both for the BTO and for Gardman. As the leading wild bird care company, we are committed to driving the sector. This campaign, as part of our partnership with the BTO, is yet another of the many means of encouraging people to take care of wild birds, and ensuring they do so by visiting their local garden centre. This really is a unique initiative with many strands to support retailers, inform customers, create research and insightful data for the future, as well as, of course, helping take care of wild birds.”
To further encourage people to visit their local garden centre, there will be a number of in-store promotions available to drive shoppers back to stores.
