Fallen Fruits were delighted to be the winners of the Giftware Association Gift of the Year, in the Garden and Outdoor category. This prestigious award was given for their new 100% biodegradable Green Picnic range, which contains natural Areca palm leaf plates. The leaves of the Areca palm tree fall off several times a year, allowing new ones to grow, making these leaves a sustainable and eco friendly resource. The veins of each leaf ensure that each plate has its own unique character. These disposable plates are suitable for both warm and cold dishes and can be used in the microwave. The range also has disposable cups and paper straws. The paper straws, which are an excellent substitute for plastic straws, which can end up polluting the environment and particularly waterways, are again completely biodegradable and have an attractive bamboo print, made with edible soya ink. To complete the range, there are wooden knives, forks and spoons, paper napkins, placemats and a matching tablecloth. A natural wood display unit is available for the Green Picnic range.
The award was presented by Rory Bremner at a dinner on the first night of the Spring Fair at the NEC Birmingham – which was a great boost for the Fallen Fruits team.
