Excitement is building ahead of the highly anticipated return of the RHS Garden Wisley Flower show on 3-8 September 2019.
The six-day floral extravaganza is a must-do for any gardening enthusiast looking for inspiration, expert advice and unique shopping opportunities, and this year will be opened by BBC Gardeners’ World presenter Rachel de Thame.
More than 50 specialist nurseries will be attending in 2019, showcasing a tempting horticultural range, including hydrangeas, agapanthus, lilies, ornamental grasses, palm trees and chilli plants. A range of trade stands will be offer a selection of complementary garden wares, from tools to solar lighting, raised beds to water fountains.
For a riot of colour, head to the National Dahlia Society Show’s floral marquee. Here visitors can view more than 100 vibrant competition classes of dahlias in all shapes, sizes and colours. On 7 and 8 September, visitors can bring their most impressive home-grown specimens to be judged by an expert panel in the ‘My Best Garden Dahlia’ competition
For those with a keen interest in floral art, magnificent creations by the Surrey region of the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies (NAFAS) will be on display, with a special anniversary theme, taking a nostalgic look back at the past 10 years. Visitors are invited to get involved by taking their pick in the people’s choice award.
The Glasshouse will also be transformed during the show with a special ‘RHS Garden Mars’ display imagining how plant life might look in outer space, featuring a Martian-themed landscape, a giant plant rocket, airplant planets and an astronaut.
In addition, the Glasshouse Gallery will house an artistic photography exhibition by Susan Phelps, capturing the fascinating and often unseen details of nature in the world around us.
