Best new plant and other awards at Chelsea
Sparsholt College won the best plant award with Thompson & Morgan's purple striped agapanthus while UK grown Lindum Wildflower Turf was the Sustainable Garden Product of the Year.
Best new Plant
Winner: Agapanthus BLACK JACK.
Big flower heads with black-purple striped blooms. Vigorous and striking in borders and containers. Ten times more florets per flower head, providing a long flowering period. Bred by De Wet Breeders, exhibited by Sparsholt College and supplied by Thompson & Morgan.
Second: Hydrangea serrata ‘Gotemba Nishiki’

RHS Chelsea Sustainable Garden Product of the Year 2023
The Lindum Wildflower Turf is the first to be grown without plastic matting. Its compost is peat free and recycled but most importantly it supports a huge range of pollinators and insects with its 27 species of wild flowers, perennials and herbs, all native to the UK.

There was a Silver for Perennial Gardeners' Royal Benevolent Society and Helping People in Horticulture. Richard Lawton is pictured with Alan Titchmarsh publicising the Plants for Perennial campaign backed by Allensmore, Bransford Webbs, Wyevale Nurseries and Newleaf Plants.
Among the trade stands Mr Fothergill’s Seeds were awarded 4 Stars.
