BBC Gardeners’ World Live countdown begins
As the countdown to BBC Gardeners’ World Live begins, gardening enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the event, set to take place from June 12-15 at the NEC in Birmingham. This year’s event promises to be a spectacular showcase of horticultural innovation and creativity, drawing over 90,000 visitors.
One of the highlights is the Gardeners of Tomorrow Project, a collaboration between The LEGO® Group and Callum Corrie, a two-time Gold Medal-winning RHS Young Designer. This interactive LEGO® garden is designed to inspire young gardeners with its playful design and bee-friendly plants like Geums and Echinacea Miss Scarlet.
Peter Seabrook Award for Best New Plant
The Floral Marquee, sponsored by L&G, will feature over 75 new plants competing for the prestigious Peter Seabrook Award for Best New Plant. Notable entries include a striped-skin apple, a pure white Thunbergia, and a red Clematis. Additionally, the UK International Orchid Show returns with stunning displays from growers across the globe, promoting sustainable orchid conservation.
Members of the Young People in Horticulture Association (YPHA) will launch a brand-new Begonia at BBC Gardeners’ World Live. Supported by the event, British Garden Centres and Beekenkamp Plants, the YPHA Launch Success Challenge supports the next generation of horticultural talent.
Teams gain extensive business and marketing training, honing their skills to bring an unreleased plant to market. British Garden Centres will be selling the new YPHA Begonia at its on-site plant shop.
Make a Metre Matter
BBC Gardeners’ World Live is not just about plants; it’s about making a positive impact on the environment. The Make a Metre Matter campaign encourages people to transform one metre of outdoor space for the good of the planet, with over 10,340 metres already pledged at GardenersWorld.com.
Visitors can look forward to exclusive events such as ‘An audience with Nick Bailey’ and ‘An audience with Rachel de Thame,’ offering insights into sustainable gardening and plant-based garden designs.
With its blend of innovation, education, and environmental consciousness, BBC Gardeners’ World Live is set to be a must-visit event for gardening enthusiasts and professionals alike.
