New plant image service launches with a webinar
The team, headed in the UK by Edwin Meijer, that brought Garden Connect to the UK is returning with a new service, Open Plant Data. There’s a launch webinar later this month.
Garden Connect provided a simple route for Garden Centres and Nurseries to publish a website and sell plants and products online. The business was sold to Haymarket in 2023.
Open Plant Data
Commercial director, Edwin Meijer, is the UK lead for a new service being launched in the UK this month, Open Plant Data. The company aims to simplify the cost and complexities of sourcing plant images and descriptions. For a single monthly fee, it supplies images and plant data free of copyright for unlimited use.
The images may be used for bed cards and information services in garden centres. They will also be perfect for online sales and channels such as Spotify.
Meijer says, “Image licensing can be a real headache, which is why we keep everything simple. We offer a flat monthly subscription, starting at just £70, which provides access to our platform. This makes Open Plant Data accessible to smaller nurseries, while larger retailers can choose from our more advanced services. We never charge set-up fees or additional fees for sourcing missing plants.”
