The HTA appoints new Non-Executive Directors to its Board

The Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) has appointed Jacqui Prior, Brett Avery, and Martin Rowe as Non-Executive Directors to its Board, helping guide strategic direction and governance. The appointments were ratified at the HTA Annual General Meeting on 25 September 2025, following Horticulture, the Conference at the Barbican Centre in London. Each will serve a three-year term.
Jacqui Prior is a finance professional with over 30 years of experience, currently a director at Farplants, one of the UK’s largest outdoor plant growers. She has strengthened financial reporting, operational processes, and compliance, including Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) implementation.
Brett Avery, originally from New Zealand, has 25+ years of business leadership experience. He has served previously on HTA committees and as Vice President, and is currently Group CEO of the Arboraco Group, overseeing Alba Trees, the UK’s largest supplier of cell-grown trees.
Martin Rowe is Director of HortiNet, a consultancy for growers, retailers, and investors. With 40 years in horticulture, he co-founded YouGarden.com, growing it to £40 million turnover, and has extensive experience in supply chains, consultancy, and e-commerce.
HTA President Will Armitage said: “Jacqui, Brett, and Martin bring a wealth of knowledge and experience across leadership, growth, business development, and finance. I’m confident they will positively impact the HTA and ensure it remains a trusted voice for members.”
The HTA represents over 1,400 businesses across garden retail, growing, landscaping, design, manufacturing, and supply, providing political representation, commercial support, insights, and initiatives like the National Garden Gift Card scheme, securing around £40 million in consumer spend annually.
