Nick Dunn honoured with Jon Jones Memorial Trophy at National Fruit Show

Frank P Matthews is delighted to announce that Director Nick Dunn has been awarded the prestigious Jon Jones Memorial Trophy at the National Fruit Show, recognising his notable contribution to the UK fruit industry.
The award was presented during the President's Breakfast by Jon Jones' widow, Catherine, and celebrates individuals who have demonstrated distinguished service and made a lasting impact on British fruit growing
A third-generation member of the family behind Frank P Matthews, Nick has played a pivotal role in the continued success and development of Frank P Matthews, one of the UK's leading fruit tree nurseries. Throughout his career, he has championed innovation, quality and collaboration, working closely with growers, nurseries and industry organisations to support the advancement of commercial fruit production across the UK.
In its announcement following the National Fruit Show on Tuesday 4th November, Nick was praised for his expertise in propagation, his role in introducing new fruit varieties to the UK, and his willingness to share knowledge and provide support throughout the sector.
Nick's dedication to the industry has helped strengthen relationships across the fruit-growing community and support the development of future generations of growers. His knowledge, enthusiasm and commitment to excellence have earned him widespread respect throughout the horticultural sector.
Upon receiving the award, Nick said: "I am overwhelmed, what a wonderful surprise to be recognised and to be surrounded by all my good friends that I have made over so many years at the Show.
Receiving any award from this industry is hugely satisfying and a great privilege. This one is particularly meaningful because I had the privilege of working with Jon Jones before he died. Jon was a great supporter of the industry and of young people. When we met, he gave Frank P Matthews an opportunity to work on new trial varieties, which helped kick-start research work that continues today. He was generous with his time, and I am grateful for the opportunity we had to work together."
Everyone at Frank P Matthews extends their warmest congratulations to Nick on this well-deserved achievement and thanks him for his continued contribution to British horticulture.
