Denny completes channel swim

  • Start of Dave Denny's swim

The HTA’s Dave Denny set off for his attempt to swim the English Channel at 5pm on Wednesday 24th of August.  With a target crossing time of 14 hours, he’d be swimming through the night.

In the event he completed the crossing in 9 hours and 16 minutes hitting the rocks in France in the dark.

Although well prepared, he wasn’t without moments of anxiety including worries that he had started too fast.  At one point he writes, “I celebrate internally when I get stung by jellyfish as I know it'll distract me from the pain in my arms and shoulders,” Read the story of his swim in his blog.

Dave has already raised double his target of £500 for Greenfingers.  He says, ‘The JustGiving link for Greenfingers is still live so anyone can still sponsor me if they’d like.’
