Brimsmore manager raises £12,000 for Greenfingers

Company: The Gardens Group

Alexa Blackmore has raised more than £12,000 for Greenfingers Charity ahead of a Mount Kilimanjaro trek next month, helping fund a new accessible garden at Naomi and Jacks hospice in Winchester.

The assistant manager at Brimsmore Gardens, part of The Gardens Group, has generated support through sponsorship and a series of fundraising events including quiz nights, family activities and restaurant promotions.

Blackmore will join 22 horticulture industry participants on the 10-day Kilimanjaro challenge, with the wider team aiming to raise £200,000 to fund the hospice garden project.

She said the challenge was the biggest of her life and thanked supporters for helping create a therapeutic outdoor space for children and families using the hospice.

The trek begins on 10 June via the Lemosho route, one of Kilimanjaro’s longest and most scenic ascents, crossing five distinct climate zones.

Sponsorship donations can be made at justgiving.com/page/alexasarahkilimanjarogreenfingers and each of The Gardens Group’s garden centres continue to collect donations at the tills.
