The BALI Chalk Fund has announced its 2026 Regional Students of the Year, recognising outstanding achievement, professionalism and excellence across landscape, horticulture and garden design disciplines.

Nine students from colleges and universities across the UK have been selected from a record 65 applications submitted by 12 supporting institutions, reflecting growing participation in the awards programme.

Regional winners receive a £100 prize and certificate before progressing to the national stage, where the 2026 National Students of the Year will be announced in September.

The landscape and horticulture winners are Samuel Collins (University of Sheffield), Josh Crouch (Merrist Wood College), Jill Doyle (SRUC Oatridge College), Finlay Lisk (Wiltshire College), Joseph Lynch (Pershore College), Steve Partridge (Capel Manor College) and David Thomas (Bridgend College).

Garden design winners are Caroline Bailey of the London College of Garden Design and Isobel Curran of Cornwall College.

BALI Trustees said the high calibre of entries highlighted not only academic success but also mentoring, community involvement and professional commitment beyond the classroom.

The awards programme has now recognised 76 regional and national student winners since its current format was introduced eight years ago, continuing a legacy of educational support stretching back more than 50 years.

National winners will be honoured at the BALI National Landscape Awards 2026 in London this December.

National Winners in each category will be presented with their Awards at the BALI National Landscape Awards 2026 Ceremony, at London’s prestigious JW Marriott Grosvenor House, Park Lane in December 2026.
