Positive habits expert headlines 2026 GCA conference programme
An international speaker specialising in burnout, anxiety and stress will take centre stage at the Garden Centre Association’s (GCA) 2026 Conference on Tuesday, January 27, at Carden Park in Chester. Kat Thorne, a renowned teacher and consultant, will present on the power of “one small habit change” to strengthen resilience and wellbeing.
Ben Harrison, GCA Chairman Elect and Operations Director of Haskins Garden Centres, says Kat’s message is particularly timely as people around the world contend with unprecedented levels of stress. He highlights that burnout, anxiety and stress are “the greatest global pandemic of all time,” with the UK ranking second worst out of 71 countries in The Mental State of the World 2023 Report.
As presenter of the Positive Habits Podcast and founder of The Morning Game Changer, Kat brings a powerful combination of professional insight and lived experience. Harrison explains that her journey through workaholism, breakdown and eventual burnout resonates deeply with audiences, and her recovery started with one simple daily habit that helped rebuild her life after losing everything in 2016.
Kat’s background as a former Global Commercial Director and CEO gives her a unique perspective on workplace wellbeing. Today, she works internationally with organisations, leaders and individuals, helping them implement positive habit change to improve performance, balance and resilience. Her practical tools and inspiring story are expected to deliver real value to GCA delegates.
GCA Chief Executive Peter Burks says he is confident Kat’s contribution will make a lasting impact. He notes that improved wellbeing and resilience benefit not only individuals but also business performance. According to 2022 research from Deloitte, every £1 invested in wellbeing returns £5 — a compelling case for organisations to prioritise their people.
Delegates can find more information and book their places through the conference pages in the members’ section of the GCA website or directly via the dedicated booking platform.
