Applications open for GCA Dick Allen Scholarship

Applications have opened for the 2026 GCA Trust Dick Allen Scholarship Award Scheme, offering garden centre staff a valuable opportunity to gain international industry experience.
For the first time in several years, up to three successful applicants will be selected to attend the International GCA Congress in Munich and the Bavarian region of Germany in August 2026.
The scholarship is open to staff working at GCA member garden centres and aims to support personal development and professional growth through global networking and knowledge sharing.
Will Armitage, Chairman of the GCA Trust, said the expansion to three places reflects the Trust’s commitment to investing in future talent within the garden centre sector.
The Dick Allen Scholarship Fund will cover the full Congress registration fee, including accommodation, with travel costs encouraged to be met by the employer.
Delegates will take part in the Next Generation Study Tour, visiting innovative and modern retailers while building international connections in an informal and supportive setting.
On their return, recipients will be asked to share their experiences and learning at the GCA Conference in 2027, helping to inspire colleagues and the wider industry.
Applications must be made online here www.gca.org.uk/bursaries-and-grants/ and must be endorsed and supported by the applicant’s employer. The closing date for applications is February 21,2026 and the winners will be informed on March 21, 2026.
