AIPH Conference to explore emerging technology
The International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) will explore the use of new technologies in horticulture at the AIPH International Horticultural Industry Conference on 16th September 2025 in Ghent, Belgium, suppliers and stakeholders are invited to attend and discover how cutting-edge technologies and AI are transforming growing practices, crop management, and business strategy.
Part of the 77th AIPH Annual Congress, the afternoon session of this Conference will explore leading technological and AI developments in horticulture and offer insights on how advancements in the sector are taking production to new levels of efficiency.
Generative AI
Keynote Speaker Ms. Ingrid Creten, Department Head of Surf Studio & Surf Studio, KBC Innovation Hub, will explore how artificial intelligence is changing the world and what this means for horticulture. Particularly, she will investigate how generative AI can be utilised to boost productivity, creativity, and drive business value.
AI is also proving valuable in crop management. This will form the basis of the presentation from Dr. Ir. Johan Van Huylenbroeck, Scientific Director at ILVO. Real-time, data-driven insights empower growers to make smarter, faster decisions. From early detection of plant stress and diseases to precise crop quality assessments, these intelligent systems boost efficiency, reduce costs, and support more sustainable practices.
Automation and AI-enhanced tech
The technology being researched by ILVO is being put to practical use by TTA-ISO. During the Conference, Mr. Joep Hendricks, Business Development Manager at TTA-ISO, will showcase the automation and AI-enhanced tech that’s reshaping propagation and production systems. Ms. Mirjam Boekestijn, CEO of Dutch Greenhouse Delta, will expand on this subject with a practical overview of cutting-edge greenhouse tech from the Netherlands’ global leaders.
Commenting on the conference, AIPH Secretary General, Tim Briercliffe said: “AI is transforming life for everyone. This conference session will assess the change for ornamental horticulture and how we can keep ahead in this fast-changing environment. It is a critical topic for the industry.”
