Next generation takes control at Mr Fothergill's

Mr Fothergill’s has announced a change in ownership with the majority shareholdings moving from fathers to sons.

After 40 years of trading, Jeff Fothergill and Brian Carey, founders of the largest UK seed company, have relinquished their shareholdings in favour of their sons, John Fothergill and David Carey. John Fothergill and David Carey have been joint Managing Directors of the company for the past 6 years.

John Fothergill said “This move represents sound succession planning for the company. We will remain a privately-owned family business and, together with our excellent staff, we aim to develop the businesses successfully”

David Carey added: “We have great clarity in our plans for the future. John and I want to grow the business powerfully and profitably and have exciting plans for our future expansion. Key will always be our attention to customer needs and the innovation and service that we offer.”
