Bents recognised as one of the UK’s best workplaces

Bents Garden & Home has been named one of the UK’s Best Workplaces in Retail, Hospitality & Leisure™ 2025 by Great Place To Work® UK, following its second consecutive year of Great Place to Work Certification™.

This recognition is based on positive feedback from Bents' employees, gathered through the confidential Trust Index™ survey, which measures aspects such as work-life balance, fulfilment, job satisfaction, psychological safety, and financial security.

The company’s inclusion highlights its strong, supportive culture and consistent employee experience across all teams.  According to sector analysis, 75% of employees at these top workplaces intend to stay long-term, compared to 56% at typical companies.

Managing Director Matthew Bent credits this success to the dedication and enthusiasm of Bents’ colleagues, emphasising the importance of their feedback in shaping the workplace.

Great Place To Work® UK’s Benedict Gautrey noted the sector’s best organisations prioritise open communication and support. Bents’ ongoing commitment to employee wellbeing and development underpins its reputation as a leading destination centre, with plans to continue investing in its people and culture for years to come.

One more Lap

On September 14, 2025, a team of six from Bents Garden & Home participated in the “One More Lap” 12-hour ultra-endurance relay at Cheshire Polo Club, supporting Warrington Youth Zone, Bents’ charity of the year.

Despite challenging weather that forced them to abandon their gazebos, the team remained committed, running from 8am to 8pm and covering an impressive 81 miles in total.

Each member completed 12 laps of the one-mile course, with additional support from guest runners Oliver Downton-Bent and Matthew Bent.

Special mention went to 71-year-old David Blott, who has been a part of our family business since 2010 as a Customer Service Assistant.  He only took up running at age 55, and was an integral part of the team on the day and was back at work bright and early the following morning.

Head of Culture Katherine Bent extended heartfelt thanks to participants, acknowledging the event’s physical and mental challenges, especially due to adverse weather.

The team’s perseverance and camaraderie raised £500.  One More Lap is just one example of the many fundraising events colleagues and customers at Bents get involved with.
