Zest celebrates two year grand total fundraising for Macmillan

Company: Zest 4 Leisure

Garden furniture, grow your own and decorative garden structure specialist, Zest is celebrating two years of successful charity challenges for Macmillan Cancer Support, raising over £16,000 during 2021, resulting in a grand total of £25,819.99.  From marathons to cake days to raffles, company employees have gone the extra mile to raise money for this worthwhile cause.

Macmillan Cancer Support provides physical, financial, and emotional support to people diagnosed with cancer, from the moment they have been diagnosed through treatment and beyond.

Commenting on the achievement, Managing Director, Steve Morgan said, “Everyone has done a fantastic job and I couldn’t be prouder. As a family-run business, it’s really important that we have a positive impact on the community and raising money for charity is one of the ways that we can achieve this.  One of the highlights in 2021 was our 24-hour run/walk challenge which was inspired by, and in memory of, the remarkable fundraising achievements of the late Captain Sir Tom Moore.  There were also lots of smaller initiatives such as football cards which contributed over £270 to the total and Easter Hampers, donated by staff, which raised £575. No matter the scale of the challenge or initiative, every single penny raised is equally important and I’d like to say a massive thank you to all our staff for their dedication to the cause, and thank you our customers, suppliers and friends of Zest for their generous support!”

Throughout 2021, employees put their best foot forward when it came to raising money, none more so than Andrew Baker, the company’s Finance Director. At the start of the year, Andrew set himself a Marathon Challenge which saw him run over 1,600 miles and raise over £3,000 in the process.

Eleri Brady, Macmillan Relationship Fundraising Manager – Wales, commented: “This outstanding total will fund a nurse for just over five months, or it could be used to help 73 families with a one-off grant to help with the extra costs that living with cancer can bring.  We are extremely grateful.”

Over the last eleven years, Zest employees have helped raise more than £100,000 for a variety of charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith Children’s Hospices, Cancer Research UK, Action for Children, Alzheimer’s Society, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and Meningitis Now.

Zest was established in 2005 to bring high quality, sustainable timber garden products to garden centres, online retailers, builders’ merchants, and major purchasing groups across the UK.  For further information about Zest’s GYO, decorative and furniture products, visit www.zest4leisure.co.uk.
