Rose Masterclass at Bradford Garden Centre raises charity funds
A rose masterclass hosted at Tong Garden Centre in Bradford has raised £200 for Martin House Children’s Hospice, which supports children with life-limiting illnesses.
The event, held in celebration of National Rose Month, welcomed Andy Rollings from renowned rose breeder David Austin Roses. Guests enjoyed a cream tea while learning expert tips on planting, pruning, feeding, and caring for roses. A Q&A session followed, along with a charity raffle offering David Austin rose plants as prizes.
Marc Salama, Commercial Plant Manager at Yorkshire Garden Centres, said: “Andy’s talk was packed with practical advice. I particularly appreciated his tips on deadheading and pruning – and his reminder to simply enjoy your roses. It was interesting to hear that his favourite is ‘Olivia Austin’, one of our top sellers thanks to its repeat blooms and fruity fragrance.”
Andy Rollings added: “I was honoured to speak at Tong and thrilled by the number of enthusiastic guests. We’re delighted to have helped raise money for such a worthwhile cause.”
Tong Garden Centre is part of the Yorkshire Garden Centres group, which includes Tingley, Otley, Bingley, York, Scarborough and Pennine locations.
