Provender Nurseries marks 21 years with tree planting

Provender Nurseries continued its 21st anniversary celebrations last week with a special tree-planting ceremony held during National Tree Week. The event highlighted the company’s longstanding commitment to horticulture and its close ties with the local community.
Following discussions with Swanley Park, located just moments from the nursery, a Pinus wallichiana was chosen and planted by the Mayor of Swanley, Cllr Keith Mitchell, alongside local dignitaries and members of the Provender team.
Managing Director Richard McKenna expressed pride in marking the milestone within the community the business has served for over two decades. He noted the significance of celebrating the anniversary during National Tree Week, reflecting Provender’s roots in horticulture and its dedication to supporting a greener environment for local residents.
The selected Pinus wallichiana was chosen for its climate resilience, striking evergreen foliage, and strong structure. Once mature, it will enhance the park landscape while standing as a lasting legacy to Provender Nurseries’ 21 years of growth.
The ceremony was attended by a wide representation of Provender staff and local councillors, including Sales Director Richard Burt, Deputy Mayor Cllr Michael Horwood, Cllr Clare Barnes—accompanied by Jackson the Dachshund—and Swanley’s Parks and Open Spaces Manager George Brooker.
The gathering underscored Provender Nurseries’ enduring contribution to the local economy and community, celebrating the people, partnerships, and shared green values that have shaped the business over the past two decades.
