HTA backs Greenfingers Kilimanjaro Charity Trek

Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) has confirmed its sponsorship of a 24-person industry team preparing to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in support of Greenfingers Charity.
The trek, taking place from 10–21 June, aims to raise funds to create a new therapeutic garden at Naomi House & Jacksplace children’s hospice.
The HTA has long supported Greenfingers through initiatives including the National Garden Gift Card scheme and other fundraising activities.
As part of its latest support, the association is sponsoring the Kilimanjaro trek and providing kit for the climbers.
The mountain, Africa’s highest peak at 5,895 metres, presents a significant endurance challenge for the team of horticultural industry participants.
At the Garden Press Event in February, HTA Chief Executive Fran Barnes met with Greenfingers Patron Jim Carter and several trekkers to wish them well ahead of the climb.
Participants include Libby Stubbs of British Garden Centres, Tara Adams of Ames, Heidi Towse of Blue Diamond Garden Centres and Kate Ebbens of Woodlodge.
Greenfingers Charity creates therapeutic gardens at children’s hospices across the UK, offering outdoor spaces where children with life-limiting conditions and their families can relax and spend time together.
To date, the charity has created more than 70 hospice gardens, with further projects planned across the country.
The HTA is a proud supporter of the Greenfingers Charity. For more information on how it uses the National Garden Gift Card scheme to raise the profile and support Greenfingers, visit: hta.org.uk/national-garden-gift-card/supporting-greenfingers.
