Greenfingers supporters choose their 2028 challenge

Hot on the heels of the Greenfingers Charity’s successful Kilimanjaro challenge, which has raised more than £300,000, supporters are being invited to choose the charity’s next overseas fundraising adventure.
Two destinations are in the running for 2028: Machu Picchu in Peru and the Great Wall of China. Both challenges are planned for October 2028, giving participants plenty of time to prepare, train and fundraise.
Two incredible destinations
The first option is a 10-day trek to Machu Picchu, following the spectacular Ancascocha Trail. The route takes in snow-capped Andes, rivers and remote communities, with opportunities to experience traditional Peruvian culture. The challenge is graded tough.
The alternative is a nine-day Great Wall of China Discovery, featuring approximately 10,000 uneven steps, climbs and mountainous terrain. Participants will trek through the Yan Mountains to Gubeikou before tackling the famous ‘Heavenly Staircase’. This challenge is graded challenging.
Whichever destination is chosen, the challenge will bring supporters together for an unforgettable experience while raising vital funds for Greenfingers Charity, which creates magical gardens for children and families spending time in hospices.

“Kilimanjaro was such an extraordinary experience, and the fact that it has now raised more than £300,000 for the charity is something we are incredibly proud of.
“What has been just as special is seeing how inspired people have been by the team. We have had so many conversations with supporters who have said they would love to take on something similar, so it felt like the perfect time to start looking ahead to our next overseas challenge.
“For 2028, we wanted to make the decision together. Machu Picchu and the Great Wall of China are both truly once-in-a-lifetime experiences, and we cannot wait to see which one our supporters choose.”
