The Greenfingers Charity is delighted to announce that its 25th Anniversary Show Garden, unveiled at this year’s BBC Gardeners’ World Live, has been named runner-up in the prestigious Visitors’ Choice Award.

Designed by the talented Pip Probert and brought to life with support from a host of generous sponsors, the garden was created to mark Greenfingers Charity’s 25 years of creating magical and therapeutic gardens in children’s hospices across the UK. Its beautiful, sensory yet playful design and heartfelt story clearly resonated with visitors, many of whom took the time to vote and show their appreciation.

Speaking about the accolade, garden designer Pip Probert said: “We are thrilled and have to say a massive thank you to the charity, the build team and the sponsors for all their help and support.”

The garden featured a wide variety of vibrant, eye-catching planting schemes, kindly donated by British Garden Centres. Reflecting on the collaboration, Amy Stubbs, Project and Development Manager at British Garden Centres, commented: “It was really special to see the Greenfingers Charity Anniversary Garden come to life at BBC Gardeners’ World Live this year. We are proud to have donated all the plants to this beautiful show garden. It is such a meaningful way to support the incredible work Greenfingers does.”

BBC Gardeners’ World Live, held annually at Birmingham’s NEC, welcomes upwards of 100,000 gardening enthusiasts over four days. The show is renowned for its inspiring show gardens, expert talks, floral marquee, and retail opportunities, making it a much-loved fixture in the horticultural calendar.

This year’s event provided the Greenfingers Charity with an incredible opportunity to engage with a new audience. Linda Petrons, Director of Fundraising and Communication, said: “Bringing the Greenfingers Charity to a show such as BBC Gardeners’ World Live is a fantastic opportunity to share our story with the thousands of garden enthusiasts who visit the show. Whilst we may not have taken home first place, being named runner-up is a testament to the emotional impact of the garden. It brought smiles, sparked conversations and inspired many. We couldn't have done it without the expertise of Pip, the generosity of BBC Gardeners’ World Live, British Garden Centres and Evergreen Garden Care, Natural Playscapes and the support of our other wonderful sponsors and volunteers. Huge thanks to all those who made it happen.”

But the garden’s journey doesn’t end here.

The Greenfingers 25th Anniversary Garden has not only been a beautiful tribute to the charity’s work over the last quarter-century but also a symbol of the hope, healing, and joy it continues to bring to life-limited children and their families.

The garden will now live on, with key elements relocated to two Greenfingers hospice gardens – Acorns Children’s Hospice in Walsall and Chestnut Tree House in Arundel.
