Gifting Plants to Frontline NHS Workers

This morning (Friday 24th April) three local businesses have joined forces to pay their gratitude to the hardworking staff at Worcestershire Royal Hospital by donating free plants to brighten their homes and gardens. Webbs Garden Centres and The Bransford Webbs Plant Company (Wholesale Nursey) donated the plants that were delivered and distributed by local new start up Plant Love UK.

The Bransford Webbs Plant Company has seen sales fall to less than 10% of what they should be at this time of year as Garden Centres like Webbs have been forced to close their doors to the public. Bransford Webbs Managing director Adrian Marskell commented “It gives everyone here at the nursery a real feel good factor to know we are bringing joy to these people who are working so hard in the current climate. We have hundreds of thousands of plants that will be destined for the skip if the garden centre market doesn’t open soon so doing something positive with some of them is great”.

Plant Love UK was created by three local entrepreneurs to try and connect Worcestershire gardeners with the nurseries struggling to sell their plants. Plant Love UK are distributing bundles of plants locally from their website www.Plantloveuk.co.uk whilst Webbs are able to offer nationwide delivery of gardening products through www.webbsdirect.co.uk. Brigette Evans from Plant Love UK commented “We noticed a real demand for plants from Worcestershire gardeners but they had no way of getting them so Plant Love UK was born. We have been delivering for the past two weeks and demand is very high”.
