Gardena Top of the Plots competition returns

Gardena has announced the return of its ‘Top of the Plots’ competition for 2026, celebrating the UK’s grow-your-own community for a second year.
Launching on 7 May, the competition invites gardeners, allotment holders and community growers to showcase their plots, from productive allotments to school and shared growing spaces.
The initiative follows a successful inaugural year and aims to highlight the creativity, resilience and dedication of growers across the country while encouraging more people to take up gardening.
Entries will be judged by Gardena ambassador Huw Richards, who returns as head judge for the competition.
Seven categories will feature in the 2026 edition, including Best Allotment, Best Garden Plot, Best New Plot, Best Small Plot, Kids on the Plot, Huw’s Pick of the Plots and Best Community Plot.
The National Allotment Society will once again support the competition and present the Best Allotment award.
Entries will be assessed on criteria such as plant variety, biodiversity, resilience and maintenance, with one overall winner crowned Plot of the Year.
The competition closes on 17 August, with winners announced in early October, continuing Gardena’s effort to inspire more people to grow and celebrate the diversity of UK gardens.
