Garden Day is back on Sunday, 10th May 2020 with fresh ideas, tools and resources for garden retailers to engage with the nationwide community benefit movement. Created by Candide, a gardening app for plant lovers, the movement’s aim this year is to celebrate the happiness effect of gardens.
On Garden Day, gardeners are invited to down tools, pop on a flower crown and celebrate their gardens with neighbours, family and friends over a cuppa and cake, a foodie feast or a slap-up community lunch. Garden Day is a movement to unite all plant-lovers in taking a moment to sit back, appreciate the garden spaces they’ve lovingly created, and share them with others.
Multi-award-winning garden designer Chris Beardshaw and houseplant guru Gynelle Leon of London’s first cactus and succulent boutique, PRICK, have added their voices to Garden Day 2020, joining the likes of Arit Anderson, Jekka McVicar, Michael Perry, Toby Buckland and Frances Tophill in wearing a flower crown in support of the Garden Day movement.
Garden Day is a timely opportunity for garden centres to tell customers of the benefits of gardens for their mental wellbeing and help them get their gardens looking good for a Garden Day get-together. Here are just a few ways that retailers can be a part of Garden Day, when the consumer campaign goes live on 1st April 2020:
Five budding ways Garden Day can help boost sales:
#1 Sow some signage: Download Garden Day posters and table-talkers for free from www.gardenday.co.uk from the end of March ready to display in April.
#2 Dig Digital: Order a personalised Garden Day image customised with your logo to post across your social media platforms to join the conversation online with #GardenDayUK. Email your high-res logo to email@example.com by Monday 23 March.
#3 Plant a promotion: Devise time-limited, linked sales promotions across your centre and badge them as Garden Day offers.
#4 Create content: Inspire your customers to host Garden Day celebrations by featuring Garden Day tips, stories, images, videos and your in-store Garden Day offers across your social media platforms using #GardenDayUK and directly to your customers via your newsletters.
#5 More flower, more power: Invite staff and customers to pop on a flower crown, run flower crown workshops and share how-to videos and content in the lead up to Garden Day.
