Perennial is the UK’s only charity looking after people in horticulture and their families at any stage of life. Over the last 12 months they have partnered with British Sugar TOPSOIL, who supply topsoil, subsoil and topdressing products to the UK landscaping, amenity and construction sectors. Since September 2019 they have been donating £1 for every bulk bag of their products sold to the end of August 2020 to Perennial and as a result last week handed over a cheque for £3,029 to the charity.
The cheque was presented to Perennial’s Phil Swainston by British Sugar TOPSOIL’s Andy Spetch on a visit to Fullers Mill, one of the gardens run by Perennial. Fullers Mill is a seven-acre tranquil waterside and woodland garden on the banks of the River Lark in the heart of Suffolk.
Commenting at the handover, Andy said: “A large proportion of our business is with landscapers who find bulk bags useful where product must be contained and kept dry and uncontaminated on site. The British Sugar TOPSOIL team selects a charity to support each year and this year we wanted to build our links with Perennial. With our £1 per bulk bag scheme we have been able to give back to the charity that is there for many of our customers.”
Perennial’s Phil Swainston said: “We have been delighted to be work with British Sugar TOPSOIL over the last 12 months and very grateful to have had their support, both financially through this scheme and through their ongoing promotion of the charity to the horticulture sector.”
