MBE for Richard Jackson

Richard Jackson has been awarded the MBE in the King's Birthday Honours for services to Children's Hospices.  He is the founder and president of The Greenfingers Charity.

A former garden centre owner, Richard Jackson became the face of gardening on the QVC gardening channel.  In 1998 he founded the Greenfingers charity, which raises funds from the retail gardening sector to build therapeutic gardens in children’s hospices.

The charity writes, “Richard Jackson, Founder President of Greenfingers Charity and a passionate advocate for the gardening industry, has been awarded an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours for his outstanding charitable work. The honour comes at a particularly poignant time, as the Greenfingers Charity celebrates its 25th anniversary.”

So deserving of the honour

It added, “There is little doubt as to why Richard has been so deserving of the honour bestowed upon him. In 1998, with a vision of uniting the horticultural industry behind a common cause – to create magical, therapeutic gardens for children’s hospices across the UK – he founded the Greenfingers Charity.

“Over the last two and half decades the charity has grown exponentially, and has now designed and delivered over 70 inspirational outdoor spaces, bringing comfort, joy and precious moments to hundreds of life-limited children and their families.”
