UK growers scoff at Dutch views of Brexit

At yesterday’s HTA Contact conference one Dutch grower told how he fears that Brexit will mean no UK nursery industry within 5 years.

Brexit will be a disaster for our industry which was predominantly for remain. So much seed coming from the EU and across the world and we not only lose trade deals with the EU, our biggest and closest partners, but with Canada, Australia and other countries the EU has deals with. To say British business will boom as a result is simplistic. Seed prices will rise, trading conditions suck, no customer buying confidence, inflation which is already up... the list goes on. I am EU loud and proud and if it ever happens it will simply not be in the national interest in my opinion.

Reading the comments made by the Dutch grower is one of the reasons we want to leave the EU. Who do these people think they are trying to scare everyone in the UK that our business will close! In my opinion we should stop buying from these people and hit them where it hurts most.

We'll adapt and if anything become stronger as we move towards maximizing our production capabilities.
