Prices are falling and the colour is beige

Great article George, an interesting read for those of us that couldn’t make the SOLEX event. It’s good to hear that prices for 2026 will fall, that will certainly meet with consumer desire! This will also help Outdoor Living product manufacturers win a larger share of the disposable income that will be available next year given that economically things may well be tighter than they are now. The retailers can take confidence from knowing that our Homes & Gardens will for some time to come, remain a priority for home renters and owners when spending disposable income. But they are wise not to overstock on the product options you describe but not for economic reasons, but because if they genuinely are what will be available to them ... 50 shades of beige ... they won’t meet the desires of most consumers and won’t sell to the max. It's likely that the ‘Trends’ you report (because they are what you saw) are more about perceived ‘safe’ decisions for/by manufacturers than they reflect consumer trends for 2026. Outdoor kitchens are already trending in the luxury home market and this will broaden into the mass market ... so the BBQ makers needn’t worry about price increases, we will all want to buy the best we can afford, now that many people’s culinary skills have improved so much over the past 5 years. Home entertainment has never been so popular and desirable. Based purely on the photos you published with the article, one manufacturer has made all the right design / sourcing decisions and will be so pleased to discover that they’re belief “Woodbridge believes that colour will come back” will put them streets ahead of their competition and much sooner than they perhaps have in mind ... maybe it will be a case that “they’re gonna need a bigger warehouse”. Natural materials are very desirable due to Biophillic design principles, and weave will be very popular because it has ‘hand-crafted’ qualities. A super positive note for all the exhibitors at SOLEX 2025 if they are also members of LOFA, is that it is a very forward thinking and brave trade association. Through their membership they have access to very detailed, accurate consumer & design Foresight+Trends Intelligence for 2026. This will allow them to plan marketing and product strategies that align perfectly with consumer desires for that period. Maybe to date, only the Woodbridge team has had time to analyse it ... but it’s not too late .....
