Cian grows into senior role at Wyevale Nurseries

Cian Lynch has this month been appointed as Senior Business Support Administrator for the Transplant team at Wyevale Nurseries in Herefordshire.

The 25-year-old has passed through the family-run company’s inhouse apprenticeship programme, completing it in 2021, and has most recently worked with the organisation as an Amenity Sales Executive.

Head of Business Support, Carol Dickinson explains: “It’s wonderful to see our own homegrown talent developing and being promoted within the business... Alongside his day-to-day duties, he will also be spending time with Adrian Cituran, Transplants Production Manager, to understand the production operations and site management.

Cian said, “I thoroughly enjoy working here at Wyevale Nurseries and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in. I’ve been in the industry for four years and I’m very passionate about horticulture. I started out as a Level three Crop Technician Apprentice and had very little knowledge. Now I feel much more confident and have gained lots of skills and experience.

“At the start of my apprenticeship, I rotated around each department and learnt a lot. During this time, I was taught how to prune and maintain crops, irrigate effectively, and apply pesticides safely, and much more. I also studied at Pershore to cover the academic side of things too.”

As well as having industry recognised qualifications taken as part of his apprenticeship, in his spare time, Cian, who is a member of Young People in Horticulture Association, has taken extra-curricular online courses in botany, soils and hydroponics to broaden his knowledge.
