Former manager buys Wyevale’s Woodlands Nursery

Husband and wife team Vicky and Jamie Downes have bought Woodlands Nursery in Leicestershire from Wyevale.

The four-acre Woodlands nursery supplied Wyevale across the UK with bedding and will continue to supply Dobbies, which is the new owner of the adjacent Woodlands garden centre.  It also intends to supply other garden centres.

The sale was completed on the first of October and all staff have transferred to the new business.

Jamie Downes was at Wyevale for 28 years.  For the last 20 he has been senior Nursery Manager running Woodlands and the 3-acre Heighley Gate nursery in Northumberland, which was closed last year.

Production will start almost immediately ready for sales next spring.
