Retail Horticultural Manager
£26 - 30,000 + Bonus & Package
Reporting to the General Manager you'll have operational responsibility for all day to day department operations. Chiefly the Horticultural Manager manages a team of General Assistants, sets and monitors short and medium term business objectives and oversees customer service and overall department standards. You'll demonstrate excellent overall commercial understanding, control stock package and layout in order to maximise sales, ensure a seasonal product offer remains commercially attractive and that all aspects of the product offer, from indoor and outdoor plants to garden equipment and sundries are well maintained, well merchandised and relevant to what is a knowledgeable customer base. The role is also a reasonably senior position on-site and there will be opportunity to take on additional responsibility for the whole operation on a Duty Manager basis.
This is a position for people with a love and knowledge of all things garden related. You'll have depth of management experience within retail and combine this with a decent understanding of horticultural products. Applicants can be knowledgeable and enthusiastic gardeners with some retail management or supervisory experience or capable retail managers with a love of gardening and a desire to learn more. Applications are invited from a broad range of retail sectors; Garden Centres and Nurseries, Supermarkets, DIY Stores, Out of Town General Merchandise businesses or any other retail operation where good standards and good service are paramount. Ultimately this role will appeal to individuals who want to broaden their knowledge and work for a household name in the Garden Centre business.
