Northern Irish growers to share £1.5m support package

A £1.5m COVID-19 support package is being offered to Northern Ireland horticultural businesses as a contribution towards the losses incurred as a result of short term market disturbance.

£40m green jobs fund

In a separate announcement earlier this week the Government announced a £40 million green jobs fund and a re-commitment to its tree planting pledge.  The HTA president James Barnes said the schemes were welcome, but without a grant aid scheme for British growers the potential of the horticultural sector to contribute will be lost.

About the NI aid, the HTA said, “This will help reinforce our strong case to Defra and we have picked this up with Scottish Government officials.”
