Are any Wholesalers / Suppliers /Manufacturers finding it difficult to obtain payment for pre season orders /supplies?

At times like this we need our suppliers to be as supportive as ever to retailers. I placed an order with decco at the usual £300 value... then found out that they had decided to increase the MOV to £1k!! During these times I’d imagine I’m not alone in avoiding placing big orders, just wanting little and often. Have decided to stick to Stax for the foreseeable future.

Where we have made contact most have agreed a payment plan to pay 50% on time and 50% the following month. Now the Govt furlough gateway will be open from 20th April centres have more confidence to pay, but will want to wait until the grants arrive. The most frustrating is those who have shut up shop, turned the phone off, and are not making any effort to contact suppliers to discuss. Most suppliers will be supportive if their customers reach out. Silence does not help.

If this situation is a shared challenge why are the likes of Westland closed until Tuesday?? They should be supporting the industry, not telling us next Tuesday that deliveries will be another 10 working days!!

We've had requests to extend payments of invoices currently due for payment. Understandable but also suppliers have already paid for the cost of manufacturing these. Not sure our suppliers will be as understanding?! Is it time for a joined up industry conversation together? This is a shared challenge!
