Business as usual as Wyevale buys Woodcote Green

Wyevale Garden Centres buys Woodcote Green one of the South’s largest garden centres and promises it will be business as usual.

We have used Woodcote Nurseries for at least 50 years, from the days when there was just one greenhouse, and have always found good quality and good prices. We never use Wyevale as we find them very overpriced so for that reason we will be using local competitors.

Woodcote Green has been a favourite nursery for me for many years. Always good on quality and choice and competitive prices. I cannot believe that you have sold out to Wyevale and for that reason I will not be continuing my custom. I think you will find many customers will think the same way. Wyevale are certainly not competitive with plant prices.

The best thing wyevales can do now this purchase is complete is put there name to it then let the excellent and loyal staff run the place.

Am very disappointed about this takeover. Although I have made some very good purchases from Wyevale, I feel this purchase will completely take away any choice of nurseries to visit in the area, not just for local residents but for the many other visitors who come from far afield. It's good to be able to find different plants and products than those sold by Wyevale. Like an earlier contributor, I also feel that Wyvale will renege on their commitments once their 'feet are under the table' as has happened with many other smaller garden centres they have bought.

Be under no illusion, whatever Wyevale say they are going to do, will be the complete opposite to what they actually do. Been there done that! They will promise no changes, then the Wyevale steamroller will come through and change everything!

There is shock and dismay up here about Woodcote which the best centre for miles around. If it turns into anything like the Wyevale site on the Purley Way in Croydon, I suspect we we all be heading for Coolings or Polhill or possibly Haskins at Snowhill.
